Notes: Elizabeth had one older brother, and two surviving sisters, but was the only one to marry. By 1775 she was living in Northampton, where 10 years later she married Samuel Chase (qv). He died young and left her with three young children to bring up, which she did with the help of her sisters Leonora and Henrietta. They ran small boarding schools in Luton and Northampton. The care of her children passed to her sisters when she died when she was 46, when the children were aged between 8 and 12. Elizabeth married Dr Samuel CHASE, son of Dr Samuel CHASE and Elizabeth GREEN, on 19 Apr 1785 in All Saints, Northampton.1 (Dr Samuel CHASE was born in 1745,6 died on 29 Aug 1789 in Luton, Bedfordshire 7 8 and was buried on 3 Sep 1789 in Baptist Burial Ground, Luton, Bedfordshire 9.) |
