bullet  Notes:

John was a widower when he married Henrietta Whately (qv) in 1748. Little else is known about him, although he may have had Irish Protestant ancestry. He and Henrietta had at least four children who survived to be adults.

Their only son John does not appear to have married, and was living in Goswell Street in Islington when he died aged 82. He was active in the Hibernian Societies, and was buried in Bunhill Fields. Their eldest daughter Leonora did not marry, and at the time of her death in 1813 was probably living in Cambridge with her niece Harriet Chase. Their next daughter was Elizabeth (qv), and their youngest was Henrietta, who also did not marry. The three sisters were buried in the Baptist burial ground in Luton.
