Lucy was the second daughter of William and Rachel Fawdry (qv). She was born in Swalcliffe in Oxfordshire, but moved with her family to Birmingham when she was about eight. She married James Thomas (qv) in Birmingham, and raised her family in Birmingham, Bloxwich and Essington.
