Notes: The older of two sons, Cornelius was a farmer and landowner in Salford. He was executor for his uncle William, and also inherited property from his parents. He firstly married Rachel Cole (qv) from Great Tew. They had six children, five surviving childhood. Their eldest son William was a farmer and churchwarden in Salford, and his father's executor: he married late and did not have any children. Their eldest daughter Mary married John Rouse of Warwick: they had two daughters. Their younger son Richard was living in Churchill in Oxfordshire when he married his first wife Elizabeth Simmons in 1790: they had one son who died young. Their next daughter Rachel (qv) married her cousin William Fawdry (qv). Their youngest daughter Sarah married John Hitchman, currier and landowner in Stratford-on-Avon: they had two daughters, both marrying farmers, and one son. Cornelius married Rachel COLE, daughter of Richard COLE and Mary FREEMAN, on 3 Aug 1760 in St Mary, Salford, Oxfordshire.1 (Rachel COLE was christened on 25 Mar 1739 in St Michael and All Angels, Great Tew, Oxfordshire 4 and was buried on 28 Oct 1769 in St Mary, Salford, Oxfordshire 1.) Cornelius next married Sarah HALLOWAY on 17 Dec 1775 in St Mary, Salford, Oxfordshire.1 (Sarah HALLOWAY was born in 1750,5 died on 3 Aug 1814 3 and was buried on 10 Aug 1814 in St Mary, Salford, Oxfordshire 1.) |
