Thomas KENT 1![]()
Thomas was like his father a Norway merchant in Southwark. He and his wife Sarah Wight (qv) had ten children. Their eldest son Daniel is also thought to have been a Norway merchant, but little more is known about him. Their next son Thomas lived in Greenwich, was a property owner, and is not thought to have married. Their eldest daughter Sarah also did not marry, and lived in Greenwich. The next son Griffith was a distiller in Southwark, and married Susannah Stoughton, a doctor's daughter: they had two children who died young. The next son Samuel was a successful distiller in Vauxhall, and was MP for Ipswich: he married Sarah Deane in 1706, and had three children but only one grandson who inherited his wealth on condition that he changed his surname from Egleton to Kent. ![]() Thomas married Sarah WIGHT, daughter of Daniel WIGHT and Bridget.
