Griffith KENT ²

  Notes:

Griffith was a Norway merchant (i.e. a timber merchant) in Southwark. He is know to have married twice, both times to widows. His first wife was Susanna Shorter nee Forbench (qv). They had at least three children. Their son Praise was a haberdasher in Southwark, and did not marry. Their other son was Thomas (qv). Their only known daughter Elizabeth married Capt Joseph Ball, also thought to have been a Norway merchant, and had five children.

Griffith's wife Susannah died in 1650. He remarried a year later to Mary Theobald nee Terry, the widow of Peter Theobald who had been a shipwright in Bermondsey.

Griffith married Susannah FORBENCH, daughter of Richard FORBENCH and Isabell. (Susannah FORBENCH was born Of in Send, Surrey ⁴ and was buried on 25 Feb 1650 in St Saviour, Southwark, Surrey ⁵.)

Griffith next married Mary TERRY on 29 Jan 1651 in St Mary, Lambeth, Surrey.¹ (Mary TERRY was born in 1612 in Canterbury, Kent ⁶.)
