bullet  Notes:

The youngest of three sons, James lived in Castle Street in Farnham, and was a tanner and landowner. He married his second cousin Elizabeth Paine (qv), daughter of a farmer in Tongham, and had three surviving children.

Their eldest son William inherited his father's tanning business in Dorking, married Alicia Dendy of Dorking, but died soon after the birth of their youngest child. William's two children were brought up by their aunt and uncle in Farnham after their parents died.
