Crysophilus was born in Bramshott, but settled in Ropley, 12 miles to the west of Bramshott, where he was probably a farmer. He had eight children with his wife Elizabeth Aylwin (qv) - five sons and three daughters - but only their eldest son Robert (qv) has been traced after his baptism. He remarried after Elizabeth died in 1618, to Alice Ayliffe of Bentworth.
Crysophilus married Elizabeth AYLWIN, daughter of Richard AYLWIN and Margaret GEOFREY, on 16 Jul 1599 in West Dean, Sussex.1 (Elizabeth AYLWIN was born in Monkton, West Dean, Sussex 5, christened on 4 Feb 1573 in St Andrew, West Dean, Sussex 6 and was buried on 29 Apr 1618 in St Peter, Ropley, Hampshire 7.)
Crysophilus next married Alice AYLIFFE on 22 Apr 1619 in St Mary, Bentworth, Hampshire.2
