Notes: Mabel was the only know daughter of Edmond Gray and Joan Ayling of Woolbeding Manor. She married her second cousin Nicholas Ayling in 1587, and settled in the neighbouring Parish of Stedham where she brought up her 12 children. She must have been around 90 when she died in 1655, and identified many of her children and grandchildren in her will. Mabel married Nicholas AYLING, son of Thomas AYLING and Ann FOOKE, on 20 Feb 1587 in All Hallows, Woolbeding, Sussex.1 (Nicholas AYLING was born in 1563 in Stedham, Sussex,4 died Of in Tote Hill, Stedham, Sussex 5 and was buried on 9 Jul 1641 in St James, Stedham, Sussex 3.) |
