bullet  Notes:

Edmond was his father's heir, and also acquired the Manor at Woolbeding through his marriage to Joan Ayling (qv) in 1563. He moved to Woolbeding around the time of his father-in-law's death in 1583. They are thought to have had seven surviving children. Their eldest son Thomas, who was a JP in Woolbeding, married Katherine Woolstock of Easebourne in 1586; they are not known to have had any children. Their next son William moved to Upmarden, and it is likely that his descendants inherited most of the Gray property. Their only known daughter was Mabel (qv). Next was John who was leased Todham Farm near Easebourne for 60 years; he had seven children with his wife Joan Peckham. Next was Edmund who was educated at New College Oxford, and was Rector of both Woolbeding and Iping until he was sequestered after the Civil War; he married Barbara Harmar of Winchester. Little is known about the next son Richard. Their youngest son was Anthony, who was also educated at New College Oxford, and was vicar of Compton with Upmarden; he married and had several children in Upmarden.
