Robert was most likely the eldest son of Crysophilus Yalden of Ropley. Robert identified two sons and three daughters in his will, and asked to be buried near his wife Anne in the Ropley churchyard. Their eldest son William was a yeoman farmer, had a large family with his wife Rachel, and owned land in the Parishes of Ropley, Overton, Newton Valence and Bishops Sutton when he died in 1708. Their younger son was Robert (qv). Robert snr bequeathed books on religion to his three sons-in-law: John Fielder who married his daughter Anne; William Ayling, probably of Woolbeding in Sussex, who married Mary; and John Eames of Shalden who married Katherine.
