Notes: William was (probably) the eldest son of Robert Yalden of Lodsworth and Petersfield. He was the Land Agent for Magdalen College Oxford in Petersfield, and rented land and mills from the College at Sheet, a village to the north-east of Petersfield on the River Rother. He was most likely the Steward for Bramshott Manor Court between 1611 and 1625. In 1588 he married Dorothy Aylwin (qv) of West Dean in Sussex, and had five children. Their eldest daughter Margaret (qv) married her second cousin William Yalden (qv) of Blackdown in Sussex. Their eldest son Robert was educated at Magdalen College, trained as a barrister at the Middle Temple in London, and practiced as a lawyer in Petersfield. Their younger son William is only known through his baptismal entry. Their younger daughters were Dorothy who married Richard Ayling, but little more is known about him; and Mary who married Henry Strudwick of Hills Green in the Parish of Kirdford. William married Dorothy AYLWIN, daughter of Richard AYLWIN and Margaret GEOFREY, on 14 May 1588 in West Dean, Sussex.1 (Dorothy AYLWIN was born in Monkton, West Dean, Sussex 5, christened on 21 Aug 1571 in St Andrew, West Dean, Sussex 6 and was buried on 7 Apr 1605 in St Peter, Petersfield, Hampshire 4.) William next married Rose GOODYER, daughter of Reginald GOODYER and Unknown. (Rose GOODYER was born Of in Alton, Hampshire 7 and was buried on 21 Jan 1652 in St Peter, Petersfield, Hampshire 4.) |
