Nicholas STEVENS 2
Nicholas was the eldest son, and inherited property from his paternal and maternal grandparents. Records show that he rented Ash Manor, and Jolyns and Mongers in Ash, between 1664 and 1682. He married twice, and outlived both his wives. His will shows three children: his eldest daughter Mary (qv); his younger daughter Sarah; and his only son John, who married into the Clifton family of Worplesdon, and was his executor and main beneficiary. Nicholas married Sarah SIMMONDS, daughter of Richard SIMMONDS and Sarah. (Sarah SIMMONDS was buried on 11 Nov 1669 in St Peter, Ash, Surrey 3.) Nicholas next married Edith DEE on 11 Jul 1670 in St Peter, Yately, Hampshire.1 (Edith DEE was buried on 30 Apr 1678 in St Peter, Ash, Surrey 4.) |
