Notes: Known as William Yalden the younger, he was like his father a successful ironfounder and landowner. He supported the Parliamentarian cause, and is thought to have been acquainted with Oliver Cromwell who appointed him as High Sheriff of Sussex in 1656 - he was also MP for Petersfield in 1659. He survived the Restoration and was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Sussex in 1666. William married Mary AYLING, daughter of Nicholas AYLING and Mary HEBB, on 29 Jul 1639 in St Laurence, Lurgashall, Sussex.1 (Mary AYLING was christened on 6 Oct 1616 in All Hallows, Woolbeding, Sussex 5 and died after 1673 6.) |
