Known as William Yalden the younger, he was like his father a successful ironfounder and landowner. He supported the Parliamentarian cause, and is thought to have been acquainted with Oliver Cromwell who appointed him as High Sheriff of Sussex in 1656 - he was also MP for Petersfield in 1659. He survived the Restoration and was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Sussex in 1666. ![]() William married Mary AYLING, daughter of Nicholas AYLING and Mary HEBB, on 29 Jul 1639 in St Laurence, Lurgashall, Sussex.1 (Mary AYLING was christened on 6 Oct 1616 in All Hallows, Woolbeding, Sussex 5 and died after 1673 6.) |
