Louisa was the only surviving daughter, and was presumably brought up in Holborn in London where her father had his mercer's business. She attended the Neales' school for girls in Nottingham, where she most likely met her future husband Samuel Chase (qv). Her 11 children were born in Cambridge, Wellingborough and Northampton.
