Philip was the eldest surviving son, but little is known about him except that he was born in Dona Close in the parish of Asby, where his father is presumed to have been a farmer. Philip married Elizabeth Simpson (qv) in 1739. They had six children, five daughters and a son. Their eldest daughter Jane was born in Dona Close, but nothing else is known about his daughters apart from their entries in the baptism register. Their only son was Reginald (qv). Philip and Elizabeth's burials have not been found in the Asby register, so the family probably moved out of the parish.
