Cornelius was a younger son, and a farmer in Salford. He married Sarah Bray in Chipping Norton in 1721. He left his house and land to his wife Sarah, and then to his eldest son Cornelius (qv). He left small bequests to his three daughters Mary, Sarah and Hannah, and to his younger son William (qv). Their children were also beneficiaries in their uncle William's will.
