bullet  Notes:

Richard was the younger of two sons of a tinner in Lanivet. He was probably a carpenter or builder, the occupation of his two eldest sons. In 1763 he married Elizabeth Anstis (qv), and moved a few years later to Lostwithiel, where most of their children were baptised.

Six of their nine children are thought to have survived to adulthood. Their eldest son Thomas was a carpenter, and settled in Plymouth where his children were born. Their next son was John (qv), a builder. Their next child was Elizabeth, who moved to Paddington in London where her husband John Scott was a butcher. Their younger daughter Grace (who had a twin sister Joanna) married Charles Jenkin, a basket maker in St Austell: their sons were also basket makers. Their next son Richard was a mason, and moved to St Winnow. Their youngest son William is thought to have been killed in the Bombardment of Algiers in 1816.
