Notes: The youngest son, John followed his father's trade as a cooper in Aberdeen. He married Elizabeth Joyner (qv) in 1792, and had six children, but died shortly after the birth of their youngest child. Their two surviving sons were John (qv) who was a druggist, and Andrew. Andrew was a physician in Aberdeen who married Margaret Ramage in 1803, and educated their three sons at Marischal College at Aberdeen University: James an educationalist who emigrated to America where he became Rector of Rutgers College in New Jersey; Andrew a surgeon in the British Army who died in Jamaica; and Edward a doctor in Aberdeen. John married Elizabeth JOYNER, daughter of Robert JOYNER and Elspet DICKIE, on 9 Aug 1762 in Aberdeen.1 (Elizabeth JOYNER was christened on 18 Jan 1736 in St Nicholas, Aberdeen 4 and died after 1772 5.) |
