Notes: William was the eldest son, and was just 20 years old when he succeeded to his father's estate in 1600. He was a successful landowner, ironfounder and merchant, and rebuilt Blackdown House in 1640. William married Joan AYLING, daughter of Nicholas AYLING and Mabel GRAY, on 22 Jun 1607 in All Hallows, Woolbeding, Sussex.1 (Joan AYLING was christened on 25 Apr 1588 in St James, Stedham, Sussex,7 died Of in Blackdown, Lodsworth, Sussex 6 and was buried on 11 Jul 1609 in St Laurence, Lurgashall, Sussex 5.) William next married Margaret YALDEN, daughter of William YALDEN and Dorothy AYLWIN, on 19 Feb 1610 in St Peter, Petersfield, Hampshire.2 (Margaret YALDEN was christened on 10 Nov 1589 in St Peter, Petersfield, Hampshire 2 and died after 1650 8.) |
