Griffith was a farmer at Gwaun y Gwiail, at an altitude of 150 m next to the River Llafar near Bethesda in Caernarvonshire. He and his wife Mary Williams (qv) are known to have had four children. Their eldest daughter Margaret (qv) married William Pritchard (qv), a farmer in Denbighshire. Their other daughter Jane married twice - firstly to Richard Davies a quarryman in Llanllechid Parish, and secondly to Morris Griffith, a widower and farmer in the Parish of Llanfairfechan. Their eldest son John died in childhood, and their yougest son William took over the family farm at Gwaun y Gwiail, which was passed on to his son Griffith.
