John farmed at Terreglestown, formerly a small village between Terregles and Dumfries. He (probably) had four sons with his wife Yanne Harbertson, who were brought up by their uncle Alexander after John died at the age of 49. They were Adam (qv); William who farmed at West Hill in the neighbouring parish of Troqueer; John who farmed at Terraughtie and Mabie, also in Troqueer; and Andrew who lived in Terreglestown and had three children with his wife Agnes Dun, including Richard who became a merchant in Wellingborough and married his cousin Jane Corrie.
John married Yanne HARBERTSON.
