bullet  Notes:

The younger of two sons, Jarvis (aka Gervase) Gibbon was a clothier in Benenden. His and other wills show that he had seven married children (three daughters and four sons) with his first wife, who has not been identified. His daughter Elizabeth (qv) married William Watts (qv), another clothier in Benenden. Jarvis' other daughters were Margaret, who married three times and had 12 children with her first two husbands (Andrew Willard of Benenden and Henry Pattenden of Goudhurst); and Mary who married Edward Maplesden of Benenden. Jarvis' sons were John who lived in Rolvenden, and had six children with his wife Barbara Whetherden; Robert, a clothier in Rolvenden who had five children with his wife Alice Flete; Henry, who married three times and was a wealthy landowner in Benenden by the time of his death in 1589; and Edmond who founded the Gibbon School in Benenden in his will of 1608.
Jarvis remarried in 1562 to Agnes Girdeler, who outlived him by one year. When Jarvis died in 1578 he owned land and property in Benenden, Biddenden and Rolvenden, which he left to his three surviving sons.
