William WATTS 2
- Christened: 22 Oct 1582, St George, Benenden, Kent 1
- Marriage: Susanne READER on 8 Feb 1608 in St George, Benenden, Kent 1
- Buried: 22 Jan 1628, St George, Benenden, Kent 1
William was the only son. He married Susanne Reader (qv) in 1608, and had just three children. Their eldest son John died young, and their only daughter Susan (qv) married John Watts (qv) of Sandhurst. Their younger son Reader inherited the Manor House in Benenden, was probably a puritan ('a man of fanatic principles'), and was indicted for recusancy in 1679. He was listed with seven hearths for the 1664 Hearth Tax. Reader had six children with his first wife Katherine Gynder, but no grandchildren, and most of the family property was inherited by his great-nephew Reader Watts (qv), who had moved to London where he was a tobacconist.
