William WATTS 2
- Christened: 22 Oct 1582, St George, Benenden, Kent 1
- Marriage: Susanne READER on 8 Feb 1608 in St George, Benenden, Kent 1
- Buried: 22 Jan 1628, St George, Benenden, Kent 1
William was the only son. He married Susanne Reader (qv) in 1608, and had four children. Their eldest son John died when he was only 13. Their eldest daughter Susan (qv) married John Watts (qv) of Sandhurst. Their younger daughter Margaret was provided for in her father's will, did not marry and died when she was 17. Their younger son Reader inherited the Manor House and land in Benenden, was probably a puritan ('a man of fanatic principles'), and was indicted for recusancy in 1679. He was listed with seven hearths for the 1664 Hearth Tax. Reader had six children with his first wife Katherine Gynder, but no grandchildren, and most of the family property was inherited by his great-nephew Reader Watts (qv), who had moved to London where he was a tobacconist.
