bullet  Notes:

He was probably the Thomas Umfreville of London who leased Kew Ferry in 1632, although he also had connections with Suffolk - he was described as 'Suffolk Gent' in the St Andrews Holborn burial register.
Thomas is thought to have married twice, although neither of the marriages have been found in parish registers. He firstly married Dorothy St Clere and had a son William who was born in Stoke next Nayland in Suffolk. William had a large number of children from his two marriages, and owned extensive land and property in Suffolk and Essex when he died in 1679 - including Stratford Mill which was later painted by John Constable. Thomas next married Jane Hyde (qv) of Hurst in Berkshire, and had at least four children, born in London and Suffolk, including Thomas (qv). His wife Jane was buried in Stoke next Nayland.
