Notes: Alexander lived at Cockmuir in the Parish of Rayne, and was presumably a farmer. His wife Jean Anderson was also from Rayne. Their three sons all married and had children. Their eldest son William was a carpenter in Rayne, and married Elspet Anderson: their two surviving sons farmed at Denshill in Marnoch in Banffshire, and after the younger son William died his widow Isabella Watt emigrated with her two sons to Southland in New Zealand. Alexander's next son James was a farmer at Sunside in Rayne, and married Elizabeth Wilson from Chapel of Garioch: two of their sons were farmers in Rayne, and another (Alexander) was a coffee planter in Ceylon. Alexander's youngest son Alexander (qv) moved to Aberdeen. Alexander married Jean ANDERSON, daughter of William ANDERSON and Isobel WALKER, on 4 Sep 1777 in Rayne, Aberdeenshire.1 (Jean ANDERSON was born in Lentush, Rayne, Aberdeenshire 3 and was christened on 12 Aug 1755 in Rayne, Aberdeenshire 1.) |
