Maria CORRIE 1
Notes: Maria was the youngest of the nine surviving children of Adam and Penelope Corrie, and was brought up in Wellingborough. She could just remember seeing the troops returning from the Battle of Waterloo. She and her sisters Caroline and Matilda visited Senwick (the Corrie home in Scotland) after leaving school, taking their own coachman and horses. She had known her husband Henry Chase (qv) from childhood - Henry's father Samuel was her father's lawyer. Maria married Rev Henry John Neale CHASE, son of Samuel CHASE and Louisa COMPIGNÉ, on 22 May 1838 in All Hallows, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.1 (Rev Henry John Neale CHASE was born on 28 Oct 1813 in Cambridge 7, christened on 18 Jul 1837 in St Bride Fleet Street, London,8 died on 2 Jun 1895 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent 4 9 and was buried on 6 Jun 1895 in Tunbridge Wells Cemetery, Kent 10.) |
