The only daughter of a wine merchant, Eliza had three older brothers, and was brought up at 4 Castle Street. After her marriage to Alfred Stevens (qv) she lived at 45 Castle Street in Farnham, and after his death in 1855 she brought up her children, with the help of her older brothers Ben and Henry, at 62 Castle Street which she had inherited from her husband.
