Notes: Richard was the only son, owned the manor of Padbury, and was High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire in 1724. He had 15 children with his wife Penelope Chester (qv), seven reaching adulthood. Their eldest daughter Frances was the second wife of Thomas Sheppard of Littlecote - their son Thomas lived at Thornton Hall and was made Baronet in 1719. The next daughter Penelope did not marry, and lived in Padbury. Their eldest son Richard also did not marry, and after he died left the family estate to his younger brother Henry. Henry was an attorney in Bicester in Oxfordshire, and left the family estate to his son Richard who sold it after his grandmother Penelope died in 1782. Richard married Penelope CHESTER, daughter of Sir John CHESTER Bt and Anne WOLLASTON, on 30 Mar 1719 in Padbury, Buckinghamshire.1 (Penelope CHESTER was born on 14 Mar 1701 1, christened on 7 Apr 1701 in St John the Baptist, Shenton, Leicestershire,6 died in Buckingham 7 and was buried on 18 Dec 1782 in St Mary the Virgin, Padbury, Buckinghamshire 8.) |
