William OREM 2
William was a public notary, the town clerk of Kirkwall, and lived in a tenement next to the Grammar School. He first married Margaret Irving, a captain's daughter, and had three sons, although little more is known about them. In 1691 he next married Jean Black, and had two daughters. Their eldest daughter Helen (qv) married John Scollay (qv). Their youngest daughter Jean married George Stewart of Masseter in South Ronaldsay, and had two children: Jean and Alexander.
