bullet  Notes:

The youngest surviving son, Stephen worked as a farm labourer in St Osyth, then in his 40s became a farm bailiff in Great Holland and Great Bentley. He and his wife Sophia Gentry (qv) had nine children, five surviving to adulthood. Their eldest daughter Elizabeth was a servant in London before she married George Nunn, a farm labourer and machine operator in Great Bentley: several of their children joined the Suffolk Regiment in WW1. Next was Frederick, who was a labourer and gardener in Frinton-on-Sea: he married but did not have any children. Next was Martha, who married William Partridge, a milkman in Great Holland. The next son was Stephen (qv), and lastly Edgar, who was a painter and handyman who married Kate Alston, the daughter of a cabinet maker in Sudbury.

After Sophia died in 1900 Stephen married Diana Sheehan, a soldier's widow from Colchester. She died 10 years later, and Stephen retired to Colchester, where he lived with his son Stephen until he died when he was 82.
