Robert PARKER ²

Robert was born in Farleton in the Parish of Preston Patrick, the son of Ann Parker. He was a farm labourer in Drybeck and Colby, where his children were born, and in Crosby Ravensworth where he worked after the death of his wife Jane Pearson (qv). He died in his late 60s in Kirkby Stephen.

He and his wife Jane had six children. Their eldest daughter Jane was a servant on a farm in Lowther at the 1841 Census, but has not been traced after the birth of her daughter Mary in Colby in 1844, when Jane was 22. Their next daughter Ann is only known from her baptism record. Their next daughter Elizabeth was a servant on a farm in Winton at the 1851 Census, but has not been traced afterwards. Their youngest daughter was Isabella (qv). The eldest of their two sons was George, who has also not been traced after the 1851 Census, when he was a schoolboy living at home in Colby. Their youngest son William was first a railway labourer, then a butcher in Milburn. After he died at the age of 37 his wife Ann moved with her two younger children to Liverpool.
