Mary THOMPSON
(1850-1891) |
Mary THOMPSON 1
Notes: Mary was the only daughter of James Thompson, a mason in Alnwick. It is clear from surviving letters that Mary was well educated, so she probably attended the Duchess of Northumberland's School for Girls in Alnwick, where she was later a schoolmistress. It is not known where she met her husband Richard (qv). She died shortly after returning to India in 1891 as a result of the premature delivery of her youngest daughter May, and was buried in Bombay. Mary married Richard Parker PITCHFORTH, son of John PITCHFORTH and Jane STAFFORD, on 23 Jul 1873 in St Michael, Alnwick, Northumberland.1 (Richard Parker PITCHFORTH was born on 1 Dec 1845 in Chapelthorpe, Yorkshire 6, christened on 17 May 1846 in St James, Chapelthorpe, Yorkshire 7 and died on 5 Apr 1925 in Leeds, Yorkshire 8.) |
