Penelope was the youngest daugher of Sir John Chester (qv), who rebuilt Chicheley Hall in Buckinghamshire. She married Richard Smith (qv), and raised her large family in Padbury. She long outlived all her brothers and sisters.

Penelope married Richard SMITH, son of Harris SMITH and Frances PARSONS, on 30 Mar 1719 in Padbury, Buckinghamshire.1 (Richard SMITH was born in 1690,5 died on 22 Aug 1742 6 and was buried on 26 Aug 1742 in St Mary the Virgin, Padbury, Buckinghamshire 7.)
