bullet  Notes:

John is known to be from Bodrochwyn near Llanfair Talhaiarn in Denbighshire. He married Anne Davies in Ysbyty Ifan in 1767. They had 13 children who were all baptised in the Gwytherin parish church - their residence was given as "Llwyn Saint" (a farm near to Gwytherin) between 1780 and 1788, and "village" between 1790 and 1792. Only four of their children have been traced into the 19th Century - three sons and a daughter. Their sons were William, a farm labourer who was known as William Jones; Hugh (qv); and John who was a farmer at Graig Bach in the parish of Gwytherin, where he raised his family with his wife Jane Davies - two of their sons emigrated to the US. John snr's daughter Magdalen married Robert Williams, a timber carrier in the Parish of Llanefydd - after his death in 1844 Magdalen moved to St Asaph where she died in 1853.
