Notes: The younger of two sons, Luke was a farm labourer in Great Clacton and St Osyth. He had one daughter and six sons with his wife Martha Webster (qv). Their daughter Charlotte married Benjamin Clover, a farm labourer who lived in Great Clacton, Little Clacton and Brightlingsea. Their eldest son Mark was a farm labourer in Great Clacton and St Osyth. The next two sons James and Frederick have not been traced after the 1841 Census when they were both living at home in Great Clacton, working as labourers. Next was Benjamin who went to sea and married the daughter of a seaman from Brightlingsea: his family lived in Ipswich, Smithfield and West Ham. Luke and Martha's next son was Stephen (qv), and their youngest son Luke died young. Luke married Martha WEBSTER on 1 Aug 1819 in St Michael, Kirby-le-Soken, Essex.1 (Martha WEBSTER was born in 1796 in Great Clacton, Essex 6 and died After 1860, Of in St Osyth, Essex 7.) |
