bullet  Notes:

The eldest son, Richard was a farmer in the Parish of Seale in Surrey (most likely in Tongham), and was a churchwarden for the Parish in the 1690s. He had six children with his wife Mary Stevens (qv). Their five sons were probably farmers. Their eldest son Richard married and was also a churchwarden for the Parish (in the 1720s and 1730s); and their second son was James (qv). Their only daughter Mary married George Hampton, a farmer's son. Richard snr acquired land in the 1690s which was passed down to his sons, and sold by his grandson John Paine in the 1760s to form the main part of the Hampton Lodge Estate.
