bullet  Notes:

One of 13 children, Hugh was born and brought up on the farm 'Llywn Saint' just outside Gwytherin. After his marriage to Jane Jones (qv) in 1813 he was a labourer in the Parish of Gwytherin, then a farmer for over 30 years at 'Tyddyn Uchaf' to the south of Llangerniew, where he died at the age of 88. He and Jane are known to have had four children - one daughter and three sons. Their daughter Margaret married Robert Williams who was a butcher in Liverpool. Their eldest son William has not been traced after his baptism in 1819. Their next son Robert lived at home until his parents died, presumably helping on the farm, then married Ann Hughes, and moved to Llanddoged where he was a District Surveyor and Estate Agent - he retired to Eglwysbach but moved back to Llanddoged prior to his death in 1914. Their youngest son was John (qv).
