Notes: The second son of Henry Wollaston of Perton in Tettenhall, Henry was apprenticed to a woollen draper in London, and became a freeman of the Drapers Company. He developed a successful business in the Parish of St Martin Orgar in the City of London, was largely responsible for establishing the family fortunes, and purchased property in Staffordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. William firstly married Sarah Burgis (qv), the daughter of a clothier in Sevenoaks in Kent. They had seven children, four sons and three daughters. Their eldest son William (qv) settled in Shenton in Leicestershire, and their son Richard predeceased his father, possibly in the Irish wars.Their daugher Frances married Robert Jason of Enfield in Middlesex, and had three children who all married. Their son Henry died young, and was buried in Waltham Abbey. Their daughter Judith married Sir Thomas Terry, a wealthy draper of Stoke Newington, and had two surviving children. Their daughter Alice married Rees Gray of the City of London, and had two sons. Their son Thomas inherited his father's property in Hertfordshire, and had six children with his second wife Sabina Aldridge. Henry married Sarah BURGIS, daughter of William BURGIS and Alice, on 1 Jan 1581 in St Nicholas, Sevenoaks, Kent.1 (Sarah BURGIS died before 1617 4 and was buried in St Martin Orgar, London 5.) Henry next married Alice WOLLASTON, daughter of William WOLLASTON and Jane JORDAN. (Alice WOLLASTON was born Of in Trescott, Staffordshire,6 died before 1617 7 and was buried in St Martin Orgar, London 5.) |
