The younger son, John was a grocer in Ropley, where he also leased land on the Common. He married Rebecca Yalden (qv) in 1719, and had four children. Their only son Robert died unmarried when he was 39. Their eldest daughter Rebecca (qv) married James Monger (qv) of Farnham. Their next daughter Martha was the first wife of William Fisher, a butcher in Ropley where their six children were born. John and Rebecca's youngest daughter Mary died in infancy.
