William COLLEY 2
Notes: William was a papermaker in Sheffield, and a non-conformist. He married Rhoda Brooks (qv) in 1759. They had at least five children, but only three have been traced beyond infancy. Their eldest daughter Elizabeth married George Brockmer, a schoolmaster in Ollerton in Nottinghamshire where William died in 1818. Their eldest son William was also a papermaker in Sheffield, and had a large family with his wife Margaret Close, all born in Ecclesfield on the outskirts of Sheffield where William had a paper-mill, although the surviving children all left Sheffield: their son Henry was also a papermaker, in Lancashire. William and Rhoda's younger daughter was named Hannah (qv). William married Rhoda BROOKS on 14 Jan 1759 in St Wilfred, Cantley, Yorkshire.1 |
