Archibald DAFF
(1678-1732) |
Archibald DAFF 2
Notes: Archibald was a farmer at Knocknears Hill in Greenock. His ancestry has not been established as the surviving Parish register for Greenock starts in 1698. However, in view of the alternating use of the names Archibald and James in this family it is likely that he was descended from the Archibald Daff of Inverkip who died in 1623. He had six children with his first wife Jean Orr of Inverkip, who died soon after the birth of their youngest daughter Marrian in 1723, and three children with his second wife Janet Scott, also of Inverkip. Only the eldest son James (qv) is known to have married. Archibald married Jean ORR on 14 Feb 1710 in West Parish, Greenock, Renfrewshire.1 (Jean ORR was born 1683, Of in Inverkip, Renfrewshire 3 5 and died on 10 Apr 1723 in Greenock, Renfrewshire 4.) Archibald next married Janet SCOTT on 30 Jan 1724 in West Parish, Greenock, Renfrewshire.1 (Janet SCOTT was born Of in Inverkip, Renfrewshire 5.) |
