John WIGHTMAN
(-1727) |
John WIGHTMAN 2
Notes: A Freeman of the City of London, John lived in Coleman Street, and was a silkman. He married Sarah Shardlow (qv), the daughter of a goldsmith, and had at least six children who survived to adulthood, many baptized at St Martin Pomeroy. Their eldest daughter Sarah did not marry, and died at the age of 58 in the Parish of St Botolph Bishopsgate in London. Their eldest son John was a successful brewer of the Parish of St Sepulchre in London: he married but did not have any children. John and Sarah's three other daughters were Katherine (qv); and Eliza and Mary who did not marry. The occupation of their next son William is not known: he married and had five children. Their youngest son Shardlow was also a brewer: he married twice but did not have any children. The two younger sons were less successful in business than their elder brother John. Many of John snr's children and grandchildren were buried in Bunhill Fields, so were presumably nonconformist. John married Sarah SHARDLOW, daughter of William SHARDLOW and Elizabeth, on 4 Oct 1688 in St Martin Outwich, London.1 (Sarah SHARDLOW died about 1740 5.) |
