bullet  Notes:

Reader was the younger son. He inherited property in Benenden and elsewhere including the quitrents of the Benenden Manor from his older brother Edmond and cousins in Kent. He was living in the parish of St Mary Aldermary for his second marriage to Katherine Wightman in 1725, and was still living there (in Watling St) when he died 15 years later. They had two children: Rebecca (qv) who married Robert Wilkinson (qv) and Reader who was apprenticed to his maternal uncle Shardlow Wightman (a brewer) in 1747. The apprenticeship record describes Reader Watts snr as a tobacconist, although he described himself as 'Citizen and Embroiderer of London' in his will. Reader jnr inherited most of his father's property, and had six children with his wife Mary Wainwright, who was from Holborn in London. Reader snr and his wife Katherine were both buried in Bunhill Fields.
