bullet  Notes:

The youngest son, Joseph was a farmer in Hall Green, a hamlet near Crigglestone. He may have acquired the land through his marriage to Sarah Stafford (qv), as he was still a labourer when their first child was born in 1796. Joseph and Sarah had just two children - she was 38 when they married. Their daughter Mary married Joseph Booth, a labourer in Hall Green: Mary died soon after the birth of her seventh child, and two years later Joseph married Mary's first cousin Druscilla Stafford. Joseph and Sarah's only son was named John (qv).
